DOG GROOMING COMPETITON

This competition will showcase the talents of professional groomers across eight categories.

This class showcases purebred dogs belonging to the gundog catergory and must be styled to their breed standard. Competitors are permitted to either Hand Strip or Clip their dogs. 

This class will be judged on three levels of expertise:

Intermediate, Open, Master and will feature a Best in Group winner.

The Best in Group winner will then compete in the line up for BEST IN SHOW

Gundog

This class showcases purebred and mix breed dogs. We hope to see a lot of very hairy doggies! 

All purebreds are to be groomed into a style which is NOT its own breed standard.

This is for groomers to show their salon talent displaying pet clips, modified breed trims, teddy trims, asian fusion inspired styles or transforming their subject into a different breed profile. 

This class will be judged on two levels of expertise:

Open and Master and will NOT feature a Best in Group winner.

Asian Fusion

This class showcases purebred dogs that are styled according to their breed profile.. 

Breeds with coats that are scissored and not hand stripped such as: The Kerry Blue Terrier, Bichon Frise, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Lagotto Romagnolo, Portuguese Water Dog and Irish Water Spaniel are accepted into this class.

This class will be judged on three levels of expertise:

Intermediate, Open, Master and will feature a Best in Group winner.

The Best in Group winner will then compete in the line up for BEST IN SHOW

Purebred Scissor

Salon Freestyle

This class showcases purebred dogs with wire coats such as schnauzers, wire haired dachshunds, cairn terriers etc and must be styled to their breed standard.

Competitors are permitted to either Hand Strip or Clip their dogs. 

This class will be judged on three levels of expertise:

Intermediate, Open, Master and will feature a Best in Group winner.

The Best in Group winner will then compete in the line up for BEST IN SHOW

Wire Coat

The Model Dog is a fake dog that allows competitors to achieve the ultimate in technical skills and application, purebred profiles and creative experimentation. 

 

ALL MODEL DOGS MUST BE ENTERED AS A FINISHED GROOM

This class will be judged on one level but in two platforms:

Traditional: To style into any breed recognized in the Australian National Kennel Council

Modern: To style into any salon, asian fusion inspired or creative style they wish. 

Model Dog

The Creative category is an exhibition of colourfully staged, themed, uniquely presented and exquisitely groomed dogs with the use of props and backdrops.

The creative class allows groomers to do all the work prior and make final adjustments in the ring.

This class will be judged on two levels: Intermediate and Open

Competitors will have ​30 minutes​​ ​to finish  their design, which allows time for change as in:

Detail work with scissor technique, colouring, spray up, setting backdrop up and props attachments that will not hinder the dog’s eyes , ears or mobility in any manner. Each contestant will have 1.5m x 1.5m space.
Judging will take place of the overall design and technique at contest end.

Creative

FREE to enter

Purebred poodles of all sizes are accepted in this class.

Poodles must be groomed in a style recognized in the breed standard.

This class will be judged on three levels of expertise:

Intermediate, Open, Master and will feature a Best in Group winner.

The Best in Group winner will then compete in the line up for BEST IN SHOW
